Ship Your Car or Rent on the Island?
Ship your car if: You’re staying 3+ days, need cargo space for equipment/luggage, or the island has limited rental options.
Rent on the island if: Short stay (1–2 days), want to avoid ferry vehicle fees, or traveling by KOJ (which doesn’t carry cars). Rental car rates on Kumejima start from about ¥4,000/day.
Vehicle Reservation Tips
Vehicle space on island ferries is very limited. Reserve as early as possible—especially during GW, Obon, and year-end holidays. Arrive at the port at least 60 minutes before departure for vehicle check-in. Fuel up before boarding; gas stations on small islands are few and may close early.

Can I bring my car on the Kumejima Ocean Jet?
No. The KOJ Tsumugi is a jetfoil for passengers only. Use the Kume Shosen ferry for vehicle transport, or rent a car on Kumejima.
