The Kerama Islands — known for “Kerama Blue” waters and Michelin Green Guide recognition — are Naha’s closest island escape. Three inhabited islands (Tokashiki, Zamami, Aka) are reachable by ferry or high-speed boat from Tomari Port in 35 to 120 minutes.

Tips

Book high-speed boats early in summer — they sell out fast. Ferry is more reliable in rough weather. Inter-island boat “Mitsushima” connects Zamami and Aka (~15 min, ¥300).
- Q. Can I visit Kerama as a day trip?
Yes. Take the morning high-speed boat, spend 5-6 hours on the island, and return on the afternoon sailing. Tokashiki’s Aharen Beach and Zamami’s Furuzamami Beach are both reachable by village bus from the port.

The Kerama Islands are accessible from Naha’s Tomari Terminal via two main operators. Zamami Village operates the ferry “Ferry Zamami” (90 minutes to Zamami/Aka) and high-speed boat “Queen Zamami” (60 minutes). Tokashiki Village operates the ferry “Ferry Tokashiki” (82 minutes) and high-speed boat “Marine Liner Tokashiki” (35 minutes). Both services depart from the same terminal building.
During peak season (March–October), it is essential to book high-speed boat tickets in advance, as they frequently sell out. Ferry tickets are more readily available but still recommended to purchase in advance during Golden Week and Obon holidays. Return tickets can be purchased at the island ports. For island-hopping between Zamami, Aka, and Tokashiki, the intra-village boat “Mitsushima” connects Zamami and Aka islands (15 minutes, ¥400–500).
