Ticket Strategy

Individual tickets: Simple for 1-2 islands. Buy at the terminal counter minutes before departure.
Round-trip discount: Both operators offer 5-10% off. Web pre-purchase adds further savings.
Island Hopping Pass: Anei Kankou sells multi-island passes. Worth it for 3+ islands. Check current routes covered on their website.
Important Warnings

Uehara route cancels often in winter: Oct-Mar, plan backup via Ohara + free shuttle bus (1hr).
Hateruma is NOT a hopping island: If it cancels, your entire itinerary collapses. Plan Hateruma as a separate overnight trip.
Don’t miss the last boat: Small islands have very limited accommodation. Always plan to take the second-to-last boat as your safety net.
- Q. Anei Kankou or Yaeyama Kanko Ferry — which should I use?
Fares and routes are almost identical. Anei has exclusive Hateruma service. Check which has the more convenient departure time for your plan. Tickets are NOT interchangeable between operators.
- Q. Is there luggage storage at Ishigaki Port?
Yes, coin lockers are available inside the terminal. Leave large bags at your hotel before island hopping.
