Strollers & Car Seats
Strollers are expected to be stored in the onboard luggage area during the voyage. Fold-up strollers are easiest to manage. Car seats are not needed on board but may be useful if renting a car on Kumejima. See our luggage guide for storage details.

Kumejima Ocean Jet welcomes families with children. The jetfoil vessel “Tsumugi” offers comfortable seating suitable for families, with child fares set at ¥5,800 for the Kumejima route and ¥5,000 for the Motobu route. Children under 2 years old who do not occupy a separate seat may travel free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult. The Family Fare option at ¥5,000 per person is available for groups traveling together.
The 82-minute journey is significantly shorter than the conventional ferry (approximately 3.5 hours), which makes it much more manageable for young children. Motion sickness is less common on jetfoil vessels compared to standard ferries due to the hydrofoil technology that lifts the hull above the water surface. However, bringing light snacks and water for children is recommended, as food service on board is limited.
